Samrakshan is a national program of the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association dedicated to Pregnant women in India that aims to reduce avoidable deaths during pregnancy through the integration of fetal Doppler studies with routine trimester-specific ultrasound studies. The program has a primary focus on preeclampsia (an abnormal increase of blood pressure) and fetal growth restriction. Samrakshan was conceived & founded by Dr Rijo Mathew Choorakuttil of AMMA Center of Diagnosis & Preventive Medicine, Kochi and is currently running in several states of India through the IRIA. Dr Praveen Nirmalan of AMMA Healthcare Research Gurukuk provides data analysis and research support for the program.
